General Description –

A branched shrub up to 1.5metre height with leaves which are dull green in colour, elliptical shape.  Flowers are greenish or less bright yellow in colour, hermaphrodite i.e. having both male and female organs. Its fruits and berries are red – orange in colour. The roots are tuberous, straight unbranched, roots bear fibre like secondary roots, nodes prominent only where petiole arises, characteristic odour, taste bitter and acrid, whitish brown in colour.

Useful in-

Its root powder is used to improve brain functioning, reduce the stress; in sexual weakness, increase the immune system of the body. It is good for arthritis, act as tonic, diuretic, aphrodisiac, in general weakness, gives vigour etc.
