General Description –

A small deciduous tree with leaves alternate mostly three foliate, fruits are globose  greenish when young and yellowish brown when ripe, pulp sweet, thick orange coloured. Leaflet 3-5, ovate-lanceolate, lateral sessile, terminal, long- petioles. Marmelosin an active constituent, a green yellow oil (0.6%) with specific odor found in fresh leaves, some alkaloids are found in the leaves of the plant are like Aegelin, Aegelinin etc.

Useful in-

Its leaves powder is used in dysentery, dyspepsia, anti- inflammatory, analgesic, anti-pyretic etc.
